Reclaimed pallet wood: it’s right up there with walnut and cherry. Over the years, it has become more and more valuable, as people are starting to realize how useful it is. Pallet wood is usually pine, but can sometimes be oak or a different wood. There are literally millions of uses, but today I have found the best uses that are guaranteed to save you a lot of money, as reclaiming pallet wood is free!
Pallet Wood Children’s Play Kitchen (outdoor)
Anyone who has ever strolled through a Walmart will understand: Your kids are always asking for the expensive play sets. I have to admit, some of them are pretty cool. But did it ever occur to you that with some free pallet wood and basic power tools you could make your own?! Click the link below to find out how.
Rustic Coffee Table
This simple, double decker coffee table looks really rustic and old fashioned. It would go well in a living room with dark carpets and a large TV with a low light, but that’s just me. It is free or almost free, so you really have nothing to lose if you give it a try.
Simple Indoor or Outdoor Rustic Chairs!
Face it: good outdoor lawn chairs can be really expensive. I’ve seen good chairs going for just under $500 CAD, depending on where you are. Without even having to take apart the whole pallet, which can be a lot of tugging and trying, you can have those deck chairs you’ve almost wanted-for free!
Simple Pallet Wood Bench
Benches can be really expensive too, but Architecture Art Designs found otherwise. They built this bench for almost free-the only cost was the stain and possible varnish, which is absolutely not necessary if you don’t want it.
Pallet Wood Corner Shelf
Not everybody has space for a regular floating shelf. You know what’s better than a floating shelf? A corner floating shelf with two levels. It’s even rustic. You want to know what’s even better than all that? One you can make yourself in less than an hour. But the best thing about it is that its 100% free!
Patriotic Pallet Wood American Flag
“How many people are proud to be citizens of this beautiful country of ours?”
-Eminem, White America
Well, we all know Eminem is never wrong. Show your patriotism by hanging this free, simple, rusted pallet wood american flag on your wall, inside or outside. Pallet wood is relatively thin, so it wouldn’t be that heavy. Also, the only cost of this would be the painting and possible looks. Sounds good to me!

Pallet Wood Chicken Coop?
Just a little word of warning, you always want to make sure you check to see if there is a stamp on the bottom board of your pallet. If there isn’t a stamp, the wood is totally safe and untreated. If the stamp says HT (heat treated) then it means it has gone through customs. All pallets that go through customs have to be treated. Because of this, you should only use HT wood. If the stamp says anything but HT, don’t use it. It’s chemically treated-I wouldn’t want that in my house, let alone breathe in the sawdust.
